Name: The Family
Purpose: Crime, the act of breaking a law, one of the basic keystones to society, but when society breaks down, does crime exist? The Family believes it does not, regardless of whatever territorial "laws" are put down before them, society in and of itself, is dead. Due to this they do their best to operate above and beyond the law. Through the use of money, force and conversation they set out to gain more and more power, more and more money, more and more soldiers. In the most plain view they are the Mafia reborn, organized crime in it's purest form.
Headquarters: Since they are an organization hidden within the shadows and operating effectively behind the scenes, they cannot have a true, labeled, building of their own. This is irrelevant, however, as they, in all senses of the word, control the flare tower. The trade, the drugs, the muscle and most importantly the gambling. It's here that they most notably reside and return when back from missions. While they have safe houses and settlements across the world like every other faction, this is where they call home, their mecca.
Characteristics: Money, blood and crime are what they know and what they do. The only loyalty they hold is to themselves and others are simply assets. They trade slaves with The Hive, trade weapons with The Forge, Drugs with the Crows and even hire Vultures to do hunting for them when they need it. Appearing nearly no different from any other wastelander, they are the chameleons of the world. Wearing one outfit when in a meeting and another when assassinating. They communicate with each other through cryptic messages and symbols, living in a world created of themselves.
Caste: The Patriarch/Matriarch: This is the shadowy leader who runs The Family as well as The Flare Tower from the background. Seldom seen or heard, his/her very identity is lore to a majority of The Family members. While his/her identity is generally unknown, those that do communicate with him/her act out their word as though it was law.
Grandfathers/Grandmothers: These are the direct hands of the leader and the only ones who communicate directly with him or her. They run the day to day operations and ensure to act out of the leaders orders. As such they have direct control of everyone beneath them and are generally not seen as individuals but as the voices of the leader.
Mothers/Fathers: These are the captains of the numerous sections such as, Gambling, Drug Production, Enforcement, Weapon Distribution, Recruitment and Theft. When speaking to a leader of another squad you refer to them as Aunt or Uncle. They have direct control of their squad and report directly to the grandmothers and grandfathers.
Brothers/Sisters: These are the average members, the soldiers who inhabit the squads listed above. They report to their respective mother or father and carry out their orders or die in the process. When speaking to a soldier in another squad you refer to them as a Cousin.
Infant: The bottom of the ladder, these are the new meat whom don't belong to a squad and are still being indoctrinated into The Family. They are trained privately by many different mothers and fathers, reporting to them for anything. They speak to no one else in the family until they become a brother or sister.
Roster: The Patriarch: Eris Violi
Various other NPC's to fill lower ranks
